Cooled

Involves reducing the temperature of the grain mass to values that stop the development of pathogenic microflora. As a rule, the temperature in the storage facilities does not exceed +10°C. This method is often used when quick drying of the grain is not possible. The main drawback of this regime is the difficulty of properly maintaining it during the summer due to high air temperatures, as well as the need to avoid sharp temperature fluctuations.

Oxygen-free (Anaerobic)

Under the action of carbon dioxide or other gases, a hermetic environment is created for the harvest, in which oxygen is absent. In this way, microorganisms cannot develop, and the grain does not lose quality throughout the entire storage period. This principle is called “anoxyanabiosis” or “self-preservation.” The method is best suited for the part of the harvest that is not seed material but will be used for the production of flour, feed, etc., as under such conditions, the grain loses its germination capacity but retains its milling and baking properties.
